Communion
“We believe the Lord’s Supper is a representation of our redemption, a memorial of the sufferings and death of
Christ, and a token of love and union which Christians have with Christ and with
one another."
We celebrate Communion the first Sunday
of each month at all services. All who intend to lead a Christian life, together
with their children, are welcome to join us at the Lord's table. The emphasis is
not on one’s Christian accomplishment, but on one’s spiritual intention. Communion
at Fairfax is received one of two ways. Sometimes, we receive Communion at the communion
rail. Other times, we receive communion by intinction, which is when you are given
a piece of the bread and you dip it lightly into the cup. If you prefer not to receive
Communion, simply remain in your seat during Communion time. If you are unable to
come forward, but would like to partake in Communion, inform an usher and they will
be happy to inform the pastors so the elements
may be brought to you. If you have
any allergy to bread or grape juice, please contact the church and we would be happy
to work with you to be sure that you can come to the table for Communion. If you
are homebound or unable to come to church on Communion Sundays for health reasons,
we have a home communion program where someone will come to your home for you to
receive communion. If you are interested in either receiving home communion or taking
communion to others, please contact our Pastors.
