Children

Children’s ministries at Fairfax United Methodist Church are designed to welcome children into our church family and to provide guidance in their spiritual growth.  We have Sunday school classes on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am for each specific age group using curriculum developed by the United Methodist Publishing House.   Childcare for infants and toddlers is provided during the 9:30, 11:00 and 5:30 worship services.

Children love diversity! In addition to our Sunday school program, we have a wide variety of excellent music programs for children 6th grade and younger.  We are fortunate to have both singing choirs and handbell instruction.  Five times during the year beginning in October we have a social opportunity for children to come to our Parent’s Night Out Program.

Seasonally, we try to create opportunities for the very young members of our congregation with our Kids N Teens Christmas program and our Pastor’s Egg Decorating Party just before Easter.    During the summer, we offer Vacation Bible School in July and a Music Camp in August.

Vacation Bible School | Operation Overboard: Going Deep with God

July 9-13, 2012 | 9:00am-12:00pm

Dive in and discover God’s underwater universe! Swim with humpback whales and seahorses, scuba through a vibrant coral reef, and take a personal submarine to the ocean floor, where eels and octopi play. Through interactive lessons that are easy to apply to our lives today,  “go deep” into God’s Word, exploring Bible stories of people who revealed deep faith by knowing how to:

  • Depend on God
  • Dare to care
  • Claim Jesus
  • Choose to follow
  • Change the world

Vacation Bible School at FUMC will be July 9-13 from 9:00 am to noon daily.  Cost for the week is $15.00 which will include one take home CD of the music per family. Registration will begin soon. Volunteers may contact Martha Peacock at (703) 591-3120.
