Fairfax UMC’s Summer Music Camp 2012:
Put Your Arms Around the World

July 30-August 3, 9am-12pm

Children ages 4 through rising 7th graders are invited to join in a week of singing, dancing, instruments, crafts, and more!  The week culminates in an informal performance for friends and family at 11:00am in the sanctuary.  A registration fee of $20 covers the cost of a t-shirt, snacks, and craft items.

Cherub Choir (Pre-School 4 and Kindergarten)

Tuesdays, 6:00 – 6:30 |  Room 214

Cherub Choir is a great opportunity for young children to experience music in a joyful environment.  It is a process-oriented program that offers age-appropriate singing, playing, listening, and movement opportunities.  Children develop rhythmic and tonal skills while worshiping the Lord through fellowship and song.  The Cherub Choir is a preparatory choir that sings in worship a few times a year.

King David Choir (Grades K – 2)

Sundays, 3:30-4:15 |  Room 216

The King David Choir is a great opportunity for children to serve in worship, enjoy fun and fellowship, and learn age-appropriate music and music fundamentals.  Kindergarten students who join this group should have some musical experience.  Music reading skills are introduced and refined through guided activities and the use of hand chimes.  Repertoire encompasses sacred, traditional, and contemporary styles of music.  The children sing in worship several times a year, including Christmas Eve, Palm Sunday, and Mother’s Day.

Junior Choir (Grades 3 – 6)

Sundays, 2:30-3:30 |  Room 216

Junior Choir is a great opportunity for children to serve in worship, enjoy fun and fellowship, and learn age-appropriate music and music fundamentals.  Repertoire encompasses sacred, traditional, and contemporary styles of music.  Musicianship skills are refined and strengthened as the children sing in worship several times a year, including Christmas Eve, Palm Sunday, and Mother’s Day.

Junior Ringers (Grade 3 – 6)

Sundays, 1:45-2:30 |  Room 215

Junior Ringers is a great opportunity for children to serve in worship, enjoy fun and fellowship, and gain a sense of musical independence.  Age-appropriate music reading and performance skills are emphasized.  The children play in worship several times a year.
