Ash Wednesday Services

The beginning of the Lenten Season is marked by the imposition of ashes— a very special ritual. This is a practice that dates back to Biblical times. Jeremiah, Daniel, Job and others have found themselves using dust as a sign of repentance. The imposition of ashes is a way for us to be reminded of our own mortality and humanness in relationship to God. A pastor will be available from 6:30 to 9:00 am on February 22 in the Chapel, right next to the Sanctuary, for any who are interested in having the ashes imposed at the beginning of the day. We will also be offering a formal worship service at 7:30 pm that evening with the imposition of ashes. As Christians, this service and ritual are an important part of our spiritual life and we encourage all members of the church to be here on February 22 for this important worship service.
